Bhakti means devotion to god. Without devotion asana becomes an exercise. In the yoga sutras Patanjali says 'devotion to god is the direct path of self-realisation'.
It doesn't matter what form of God you're devotion is directed to what matters is the devotion should be directed to something higher than you're ego. Devoting yourself to a God displays you're inner wisdom, and brings you're heart towards unconditional love.
Bhav is the sanskrit word used to describe the mood of one who is in love with the divine.
